About

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2003 and hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology (1991), a Master’s in Neuropsychology (1995) and a Master’s Degree in counseling (1999). I have worked in both hospital and outpatient mental health settings including Barrow Neurological Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School. Prior to opening my solo private practice in 2003, I was on staff at Psychological Counseling Services, an internationally recognized private group practice in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“I walk the walk. Through my own therapy, recovery work and exploring my own psyche, I know how to walk alongside others, and recognize the individual paths their healing may take.”

— Sarah Matheson

My background and 30 years of clinical experience allow me to truly approach the client holistically. In addition to being a Meadows trained psychotherapist, I am well trained and experienced in other treatment modalities. To add even more bandwidth to help my clients access healing, I have undergone extensive depth work training through a Jungian informed lens, thereby allowing me to explore the inner world of the person through myth, dreamwork, expressive arts and narrative. My therapeutic approach allows my clients to move into the resiliency, joy and contentment they deserve, and to go forward living with more authenticity and agency over their own lives.
